As you are most probably aware, window blinds can pose a potential hazard to children. There have been a number of accidents in Ireland and worldwide resulting in serious injury and death to children as a result of strangulation caused by the cord mechanism of some window blinds.
You may also be aware of the existence of the European standard,  I.S. EN 13120:2009 – Internal Blinds – Performance requirements including safety’ and the requirements for fitting safety devices on cords to eliminate the risk of strangulation.

It is proposed to hold a meeting with those that manufacture, import, install internal window blinds along with representatives of users, engineers and other interested bodies on the 24th of August at the NSAI Head Office in Northwood, Santry, Dublin 9 ( 11am to 1pm ) to discuss these issues with a view to eliminate the occurrence of such accidents.

If your organisation subcontracts the installation of the window blind, we would welcome the participation of those subcontractors at this meeting.

Please confirm that you or a representative will attend this meeting by the 19th of August.
Confirmation should be sent either by email or by post to the address below. Thank you.

I look forward to hearing from you.
