Legal Metrology verification activity is delivered through an external service delivery model by a network of Authorised Verifiers, private companies working on behalf of Legal Metrology. Verification of measuring instruments used for trade plays a key role in ensuring that compliant instruments are used to support the trading environment. Authorisation to conduct verifications is granted to applicants that demonstrate they have the required expertise and resources to carry out verification work.
How to Become An Authorised Verifier
The application process is launched from time to time through public tender (www.e-tenders.gov.ie) where full details can be obtained of the requirements applicable to the scheme. Authorisations are normally issued for 4 years and each successful applicant is limited by the terms and conditions of their authorisation which contains details of the service to be provided and their obligations.
