- Toy Safety
Toy Safety standards can enable manufacturers to ensure their products are safe to place on the market and provide a confidence to consumers that toys are safe.
The European commission has mandated the development of standards to support Toy Safety legislation in Europe, learn more: Toy Safety - Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs
In Ireland, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) acts as the market surveillance authority for Toy Safety.
CEN/TC 52 – Safety of Toys is the primary European committee producing toy safety standards, such as the EN 71 series. Suitably qualified experts in Ireland can participate on the work of CEN/TC 52 through the NSAI national mirror committee, NSAI/TC 87. Membership of NSAI standard committees is open to anyone based in Ireland.
