The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) today announces the publication of the revised I.S. 465 standard.

NSAI recognises the very significant challenges and distress experienced by those impacted by defective concrete blocks. Throughout the review process, there has been a clear awareness among all involved of the serious and deeply personal impact associated with these issues.

The revision of I.S. 465 has involved a substantial programme of technical review, stakeholder engagement, scientific consideration, and standards development work over an extended period. The process has included detailed examination of evolving scientific and engineering evidence, alongside extensive engagement with a broad range of stakeholders.

NSAI wishes to acknowledge the considerable commitment and professionalism of all those who contributed to the revision process, including the members of the relevant technical committees and working groups. In particular, NSAI recognises the significant contribution made by technical experts who participated on a voluntary basis and gave substantial amounts of their time and expertise throughout the process.

As with all national standards, the revision process for I.S. 465 was conducted in accordance with established standards development procedures, with a focus on achieving a robust, evidence-based, and transparent outcome. The publication of the revised standard marks the conclusion of this particular review process.

The revised I.S. 465 provides an updated technical framework informed by the best available evidence and expertise considered during the review period.

NSAI would also like to thank all stakeholders who participated in the public consultation process and who provided submissions and feedback during the course of the review. The revised I.S. 465 standard is now available through standards.ie to view and download.
