The International Rugby Experience (IRE) has been awarded ISO 20121:2012 certification from the NSAI following its opening in May
ISO 20121:2012 is an international standard for sustainable event management. It shows that an event or an organisation can become more socially responsible and reduce its environmental footprint, all while continuing to be financially successful.
To achieve this, the IRE implemented a number of steps including; making efforts to eliminate single use plastics, participating in local community initiatives such as Team Limerick Clean-Up and at every opportunity, procuring products and services from sustainable companies and sources.
Congratulating the International Rugby Experience on securing certification to ISO 20121:2012 Sustainable Events, the Head of Business Excellence with NSAI, Stewart Hickey, said: “Achieving independent third-party certification demonstrates long-term commitment to sustainability and it strengthens International Rugby Experience’s reputation in this area. This can enhance relationships with clients, suppliers, the local community as well as other national and international stakeholders."

Our vision from the start was to operate a world class visitor experience, with our environmental impact to the forefront of our minds. Now that we’ve successfully implemented the standard, we will be looking at continuously improving on our high standards year on year.”
