NSAI would like to advise of the publication of the following standard:
- S.R. 16:2016+A1:2026 - Guidance on the use of I.S. EN 12620:2002+A1:2008 - Aggregates for concrete – Amendment 1
I.S. EN 12620:2002+A1:2008 is the framework standard used when specifying or declaring requirements for aggregates used in the production of concrete.
It specifies the properties of aggregates obtained from natural, manufactured, or recycled materials, as well as mixtures of these, for use in concrete for buildings, roads and civil engineering works. S.R. 16:2016 provides advice on the use of I.S. EN 12620:2002+A1:2008 in Ireland and recommends values or categories for aggregate properties within the ranges permitted in I.S. EN 12620:2002+A1:2008 for end-use applications.
The intended users include aggregate manufacturers, professional geologists, specifiers, consultants, engineers, architects, and providers of testing services for aggregates.
The following amendments have been made to S.R. 16:2016:
- Recommendation of new test method for determination of total sulphur of aggregates
- Additional guidance in relation to Alkali-silica reactivity (ASR)
- Additional guidance for geologists in relation to knowledge of the raw material
- Additional guidance for geologists in relation to dealing with deleterious materials.
NSAI would like to acknowledge the following committee for their contribution to the development of this draft standard:
- NSAI/TC 153 Aggregates Panel
