Important public consultation for the Irish refrigeration industry

EN 378 public consultation relates to refrigeration systems and heat pumps

The EN 378 series of standards is currently under review and has been launched for public consultation by CEN (the European Committee for Standardisation).

This series deals with safety and environmental requirements for refrigeration systems and heat pumps.

The following sections are available for review and comment from 4 July to 28 August 2025, both months inclusive:

  • prEN 378-1 - Basic requirements, definitions, classification and selection criteria
  • prEN 378-2 - Design, construction, testing, marking and documentation
  • prEN 378-3 - Installation site and personal protection
  • prEN 378-5 - Safety classification and information on refrigerants
