I.S. 399 Energy efficient design management system - Requirements with guidance for use is currently out for public consultation until April 2nd.
This standard is called up in the Action Plan for Jobs. It is also the first such design management system standard in this area. This standard has been developed to extend and further realise the benefits and savings that can be achieved as previously demonstrated through an energy efficient design methodology published by SEAI.
The purpose of this management system standard is to enable organisations establish a systematic approach to the design, construction and commissioning of new investment projects in order to minimise energy consumption during their subsequent lifecycles. Such projects may include new, modified and renovated buildings and facilities, equipment, systems and processes.
The standard can be implemented as a stand alone management system.
Alternatively it may be integrated within ISO 50001 or ISO 9001.
