CEN/TC 439 – Private security services – has been established following approval by members of a proposal by Austrian Standards for the establishment of such a Technical Committee (TC) to cover all future European standardization work in the field of civilian private security services.

The proposal was supported by the Confederation of European Security Services, COESS, and Austrian Standards holds the secretariat.  The work is aimed at specifying quality criteria and providing guidelines for public and private users of such security services.  Standardization of specific branches of private security services will thus be addressed in a systematic way within the framework of a single technical body.

The creation of CEN/TC 439 was deemed necessary given the ongoing restructuring of security standardization at international level, in particular the creation of ISO/TC 292 – Security – of which NSAI is an O-member.

The first meeting of the TC is to take place in Vienna, Austria, on July 3, 2015.
