    Background

The Irish Biocontamination Mirror Group has been set up to share information on ISO TC 209 WG02 and encourage participation in the ISO process. The Mirror will give a voice to the wide variety of interests in Ireland and help formulate an Irish response through the Irish representatives on WG02.

Technical Committee TC 209 is responsible for ISO 14644 & 14698 standards dealing with airborne and surface contamination in cleanrooms and controlled environments. ISO 14698 -1 & -2:2003 deal with airborne and surface Biocontamination.

However developments in Quality Risk Management, Risk Assessment, Critical Control Points and Rapid Microbiological Methods, coupled with the need for setting limits and providing Classification Tables has driven the need for a major revision.

    Why delegates attended?

The Irish Biocontamination Mirror Group has been set up to share information on ISO TC 209 WG02 and encourage participation in the ISO process. We are delighted to have Dr Vance Bergeron and Dr Horst Weissieker with us for a focussed discussion. Watch the post workshop interviews with the speakers.

    Who attended?

This workshop benefited those involved in biocontamination control:
    • Microbiologists & Science Professionals in Life Sciences, Food and Healthcare
    • Microbiologists & Science professionals establishing biocontamination control programmes – Risk Assessments,
    • Critical Control Points, setting Alert & Action levels
    •  Microbiologists & Science Professionals in Environmental Monitoring
    • Engineering staff involved in Controlled Environments inc GMP Cleanrooms, Laboratories, Hospital Operating Theatres, ICUs & Food Processing areas

    Meet the speakers:
